SERVICES:
Tutoring, Grades K through 8. Areas of expertise include reading, written expression, and executive functioning skills. A one-to-one assessment is conducted and a report generated. An individualized program for intervention is designed and implemented. A progress report is provided to parents following each tutoring session.
Parent consultation. Services include guidance regarding at-home academic and behavioral support, communication with teachers and administrators, interpretation of assessment results, and school search/selection process. Communication is facilitated to ensure that a collaborative approach is maintained.
School consultation. Areas of expertise include reading and writing assessments, curriculum development, parent education, and teacher training/mentoring.
BIOGRAPHY:
Sharon Negri has 40 years of experience in the field of Education. She has worked as a special education teacher, preschool director, parent educator, learning specialist, tutor, and independent consultant. She earned a Master of Science degree in Educational Psychology/Special Education from the State University at Albany in 1977 and a Bachelor of Science degree in Human Development and Family Studies from Cornell University in 1975. Additional study has included training in Phono-Graphix, Orton-Gillingham, Wilson Fundations, Read Naturally, and Handwriting without Tears. She has lived and worked in the Capitol Hill community since 1988.
