The Center For Communication and Learning serves children and adolescents with a variety of communication disorders. CCL is committed to providing high quality services including individual and group treatment plans that emphasize family education, to develop feeding, speech, language, literacy, and social learning skills. Our unique Be Social Kids programs focus on helping children understand the “why” behind social skills. Based on the frameworks of social thinking, we help children navigate their social world. We also offer PEERS® an evidence-based social skills intervention for adolescents in middle school or high school who are interested in learning strategies to help them make and keep friends.
BIOGRAPHY:
Susan Abrams M.A. CCC-SLP is the founder and director of CCL. She is a pediatric Speech – Language Pathologist with over thirty years experience evaluating and treating children with speech, language and social learning disorders in Montgomery County. She is certified by the American Speech, Language and Hearing Association (ASHA) and licensed by the State of Maryland in speech language pathology. She holds a Masters of Arts in Speech Pathology from Hofstra University and a Masters of Education in Counseling from George Washington University. She is recognized as one of Maryland’s most respected therapists in the area of social thinking having completed the Social Thinking clinical training program with Michelle Garcia Winner CCC-SLP, in San Jose, California.
