SERVICES:
I support families to navigate the school system so that students can experience success. I work with all ages, and have experience with many different disabilities. I work to help identify students who need an IEP or a 504 plan. I also help families that are frustrated with the implementation of their IEP or 504 plan. I can be an expert witness in special education with more than 30 years of experience in this field. I observe students in their settings and give suggestions for support and possibly placements. I support families who want to appeal the decisions that the school makes, and help families who are interested in non-public settings. I am a great problem solver in determining next steps when families don't know what to do or where to turn.
BIOGRAPHY:
I have a Bachelor’s degree from James Madison University in general education, a Master’s degree from American University in Special Education, an Education Specialist degree from George Washington University, and an administration certificate from Towson U. I worked in Prince George’s County for 6 years, and Montgomery County for 24. I spent the majority of my career in the special education office as an instructional specialist and supervisor supporting staff, administrators, and parents in schools. I am well versed in the Rehabilitation Act of 1974 and IDEA.
