Serving the DC Metro area, Kenneth Stefano & Associates is a team of clinical psychologists and educational specialists offering a distinctive approach to consultation, assessment and advocacy. We specialize in comprehensive diagnostic evaluations for children, adolescents and adults with learning, attention/executive functioning, and emotional difficulties. Our unique approach includes providing parents with an Action Plan to implement recommendations and providing students with a Learning Profile so they can better understand their learning style. We also assist parents through the IEP process, identify treatment providers for intervention, and provide education about ADHD and learning differences to parents.
BIOGRAPHY:
Dr. Kenneth Stefano is a clinical psychologist who has worked with children, adolescents and families for the last 25 years. After completing his doctoral internship at the John L. Gildner Regional Institute for Children and Adolescents (JLG-RICA), he joined the JLG-RICA staff as a psychologist, remaining for the next 15 years. Dr. Stefano assumed various roles during his tenure at JLG-RICA, including providing intensive individual and family therapy to seriously emotionally disturbed students in a residential setting. Dr. Stefano also served as the staff psychologist on the JLG-RICA Evaluation Unit, administering psychological evaluations to children and adolescents referred by the court system. While at JLG-RICA, Dr. Stefano also became the institute’s Director of Psychology Internship Training, leading efforts to select, train and supervise pre-doctoral psychology students. He then moved into the position of Clinical Director of the Evaluation Unit where he managed a multidisciplinary team of professionals providing comprehensive diagnostic and placement evaluations for the Courts. In addition, Dr. Stefano conducts forensic psychological evaluations for juvenile court proceedings. Dr. Stefano graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with a B.S. in Psychology/Communications, and completed his graduate training at the Indiana University of Pennsylvania.
