Mary Lou Sullivan, M.Ed.

Students served include those struggling in school with diagnosed and undiagnosed learning, ADHD and executive functioning issues. Skill areas taught include reading, math, writing, and affected academic areas. Individual and multi-hour group tutoring services provide (grades K-college) emphasize organization and efficient production. All sessions allow for coaching as well as academic support. Instruction available for gateway testing such as the SAT, ACT, SSAT, HSPT, GRE, GMAT and LSAT provided. Support for college application offered. Highlands Ability Battery administration available to explore college majors and employment. Elementary through college tutoring is in person or virtual. Students enrolled in online classes are supported. Parents accompanied to meetings with teachers, screening 504 and IEP committees.

Undergraduate and graduate degrees in elementary education, special education and teaching emotionally disturbed children were conferred by Boston College. Certification in teaching children with learning disabilities earned through the University of Virginia. Mrs. Sullivan received post-graduate training in behavior management, learning theory, and attention deficit disorder at UCLA and California State University at Los Angeles. She has taught in Brookline, Massachusetts; Fairfax County, Virginia; and La Canada, California school systems. She was part of the Fairfax County Public Schools Learning Disabilities Resource pilot program. Mrs. Sullivan has been in private practice in McLean since 1981. Most recently, Mrs. Sullivan became a Certified Highlands Consultant for the Highlands Ability Battery, which can help students forge their college and career paths through identification of their innate strengths.
