Peter Braverman offers school admission counseling and placement for families from pre-K to grade 12, through a strategic approach that emphasizes the ways schools evaluate applicants and counsels families to present their children most effectively in the admission process.
BIOGRAPHY:
Peter Braverman worked in independent schools in the Chicago and Washington, DC areas for 23 years, before founding his own firm in 2014. In his last school position he served as Middle School Head and Director of High School Placement at Green Acres School in Rockville, Maryland. There Peter directed the process of applying to high schools for hundreds of eighth graders, over 92 percent of whom were offered admission at their first- or second-choice schools.
In addition to counseling families, Peter has sat on admission committees that have made hundreds of admission decisions. Peter is therefore one of very few school counselors in the entire US who can claim deep experience on "both sides of the table," understanding the process from complementary perspectives.
Peter has spoken to parents, teachers, and administrators at schools and conferences around the US. He has written for Independent School magazine, and in several other publications, on education, music, and other topics. Peter has been interviewed on public radio and on television’s “Good Day DC.”
Peter earned his B.A. at Wesleyan and his Ed.M. at Harvard.
